There are thousands of children from migrant families, leaving their home at a young age and following their parents to Shanghai. All too often they are without a guiding hand in this strange new environment; a shoulder to lean on and an adult friend to look up to.

These kids need a friend to have fun with, a role model to learn from and an adult who truly cares for them. We believe that you can be this person!

Requirements

• At least 3-4 times on site per semester
• Good communication skill with corporate volunteers and migrant children
• Be patient & easy-going with children
• Experience of project design is a big plus

Though some residents at XinHua Block are physically handicapped, they still want to broaden their horizons.

Today, though the extent of their English may be a simple "good morning", they await the day when they are able to speak fluently with foreigners.

We are sure that you are able to satisfy their small wish. Your commitment can make a huge change for them!

Can you remember the time when reading a book captured your imagination? Stories have the great ability to take you to the past, different countries and even places that only exist in our imagination. Many children of migrant families might never have the opportunity to experience that magic.

If you love reading books, become a volunteer for our Reading Club and teach migrant kids how to use stories as wings to fly to all the different places in their imagination!
