Shanghai Children's Medical Center (SCMC) 

Shanghai Children's Medical Center affiliated to Shanghai No.2 Medical University is located on Dongfang Rd in Pudong District. It is a modern and comprehensive pediatric medical facility conducting treatment, education and research.

 

Shanghai Children’s Heart Center (SCHC) Establishing in 2007,  SCHC is a  comprehensive building including teaching, researching and medical treatment of children heart disease. It is one of the most important project of Shanghai government in 2007. The center is located in SCMC , and now becoming the  top-ranking  congenital heart disease center around the world.

Hands On program overview: 

Introduction of Shanghai Children's Medical Center Program (SCMC) 

Hands on Shanghai teams have been visiting the Shanghai Children's Medical Center since September 2006. Volunteers attending Thursday and Saturday programs visit the hospital's playrooms on the third, fourth, or fifth floor.

In 2008, Hands On launched its lobby program. We invite student groups and other organizations to host activity tables for waiting patients in the hospital's lobby. Volunteers can engage children in art activities, reading, and other games.

 

Introduction of Heart Center Program (SCHC)Hands On Shanghai teams visit SCHC since Aug 2009. Volunteers attending Saturday program visit the playroom of Heart Center on the 5th floor. Aimed at bringing smile back to little sick children’s faces and relieving parent, our volunteers play with little babies, share useful knowledge with parents and help them relax.

SCMC Volunteer Details 

Volunteers visit the hospital playroom on Saturdays from 2:15pm - 4:00pm. 
Duties include:

Open and prepare playroom for children and invite children to join. 

  • Play games, draw or read with children.
  • Chat with parents to help them release stress.
  • Oversee the safety and order of the play room.
  • Tidy and reorganize playroom at the end of session.

 All volunteers should adhere to the rules and regulations  of the hospital.

Lobby Program Activities

  • Set-up activity tables in hospital lobby
  • Invite waiting patients to participate in various activities
  • Draw, make crafts, paint with children
  • Play cards or board games with children
